Defined as the most advanced suspension system currently on the road, Magnetic Ride Control offers a performance-driven and country-road style ride that no other system can match. Now in its third-generation, Magnetic Ride Control comes standard on many General Motors vehicles like the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette. Since it underpins many of the world’s most recognizable cars, what makes Magnetic Ride Control tick? Here at Chip Wynn, we have the answer.
Magnetic Ride Control is relatively simple to explain, but is incredibly complex in its operation. First, an Electronic Control Unit uses multiple sensors to read the road up to 1,000 times per second. As a result, the system can read every pothole, crack, and bump as it comes up. Even more impressive, the system adjusts accordingly almost instantaneously.
The system is able to react so quickly thanks to the use of a special polymer fluid filled with magnetized iron particles that fill each shock absorber. Each shock absorber is wrapped is an electromagnetic coil. When an electric charge shoots through the liquid, the fluid changes its viscosity instantaneously.
With the capability to transition from a free-flowing liquid to dense rubber-like substance in a split second, it’s easy to see why Magnetic Ride Control is the most advanced suspension system ever created. By offering a ride perfect for the track and back-country roads, drivers get the best ride possible.
The Chevrolet Cavalier was a value-oriented car for the budget-conscious buyer that was eventually replaced by the Cobalt, which was then subsequently replaced by the current Chevrolet Cruze. While there aren’t many drivers pining for the return of the Cavalier, Chevrolet is reintroducing the model…in China. You read right. The new Chevrolet Cavalier will make its debut in China this month.
There have been rumors and whispers about the introduction of the Chevrolet Cavalier to China and now it’s officially confirmed. Don’t start looking up how to import the Cavalier just yet though. It may not be as incredible as it sounds.
The new Chevrolet Cavalier sedan is basically a Chevrolet Cruze Classic with a new skin and face. The Cavalier falls under the new Chevrolet Cruze, also recently released in China. While it may not seem like a major move here in the United States, it does strengthen Chevrolet’s small car lineup in the world’s largest automotive market.
Powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, the Cavalier bears cues similar to the rest of the Chinese lineup. The interior boasts the dual cockpit design that many of the brand’s models wield.
Don’t expect the Cavalier to hit the United States anytime soon. The Chevrolet Spark and Sonic are both smaller than the Cruze, making the Cavalier a no-go.
Here at Chip Wynn, we’re excited for the return of the Chevrolet Cavalier even if we can’t get it here in the United States!

Ford invited real-world truck customers to test the all-new Ford F-Series Super Duty so that they could see with their own eyes just how well it fares in tough situations.
The 2017 Ford Super Duty is about 350 pounds lighter than the previous model thanks to extensive use of aluminum in parts of the body. This kind of major weight-saving allowed Ford to beef up the brakes, hitch, suspension, and axles. In addition, the all-new frame is now made of 95% high-strength steel and is 24 times stiffer than the previous one.
During the hands-on demonstration, truck customers were able to lift the door of the old and new trucks to compare them, check the frame stiffness, look at the axles, and take out the new Ford Super Duty on a towing test at Ford’s proving ground. Spoiler: they’re all very impressed.
Check out the all-new Ford F-Series Super Duty at Chip Wynn Motors and we bet you’ll be impressed too!
WardsAuto has honored the 2016 Nissan Maxima as one of its “10 Best Interiors” for 2016, a testament to the craftsmanship and attention to detail that all customers notice the moment they step inside the Maxima at Chip Wynn Motors.

“This interior makes a brilliant first impression,” said WardsAuto Senior Editor Tom Murphy. “The Maxima exhibits expert craftsmanship and reminds us once again why it serves as Nissan’s flagship. We love the black-and-camel color scheme, two-tone flat-bottom steering wheel, ‘Liquid Chrome’ metallic trim and Alcantara diamond-quilted seating surfaces.”
The vehicles selected for Wards 10 Best Interiors were scored based on key categories including comfort, materials, ergonomics, safety, fit-and-finish, aesthetics, and driver information.
Buying a used car isn’t nearly as risky as it used to be just a few decades ago because vehicles are made to last longer and be more dependable. However, some brands are still a lot better than others. In the J.D. Power 2016 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, it highlights the most dependable car brands.
This study followed owners of 2013 model year vehicles and asked them to track how many problems they encountered over the past 12 months. The results are then recorded as problems per 100 vehicles (PP100).
Coming in at the top of the list is Lexus with only 95PP100. The highest-ranked non-luxury brand is Toyota, which came in fourth place with 113PP100. The industry average for this study was 152PP100. Some of the other well-performing brands include GMC, Chevrolet, Honda, Ram, Lincoln, Cadillac, and Volvo.
If you’re in the market for a used car that you can feel confident driving day-in and day-out, this study would be a great place to start. Here at Chip Wynn Motors, we frequently have many of these dependable brands in stock. Our inventory is always changing, so let us know what you’re looking for and we can give you a call when we have it.
If you are under the age of 30, the odds are pretty high that you have never actually driven anywhere using a paper road map. If this describes you, or you just want to refresh your skills, you should take advantage of Read a Road Map day on April 5th.
If you’ve never navigated using a paper map before, here are a few things you need to consider.
The index (usually printed on the back of the map) lists all the cities on that map in alphabetical order and then tells you the corresponding grid location of the city. The map likely has numbers or letters listed across one side and the opposite listed across the top or bottom, for example, a city might be listed as C3 in the index. Look for the letter C and move across to the third column to find the city.
Another important part of a map is the legend. This small box will show how different types of roadways are depicted on the map. For example, major highways are usually printed in bigger, bolder lines than smaller residential or rural roads.
Use the compass road to help keep you oriented in the right direction. If you are heading south, turn the map to follow in the same direction.
When navigating using a paper map, it’s best to have at least two people in the car, one to drive and one to be the navigator. The navigator should keep his or her eye out for major landmarks listed on the map to make sure they are travelling in the right direction.
To really put your road map skills to the test, you should plan a road trip. It doesn’t have to be long—just a day trip somewhere. To make it really exciting, you should lay out your paper map on the ground and then toss a small rock onto the map. You should make wherever it lands your destination.
Do you consider yourself a good navigator while using a road map?
So you’ve found yourself asking your friend to help you haul stuff a little too often. Your friendship is getting strained because of it. Maybe it’s time to get your own! Here are five reasons to buy a truck!
# 1 – Tow and haul. This has so many advantages. You can get that boat or those jet skis you always wanted. You never have to pay anyone to haul your motorcycle to the shop. You can haul your own mulch. The list never ends.
# 2 – No sacrificing comfort. For a long time now, trucks have competed with passenger cars for comfort and accommodation. Having lots of power doesn’t mean you have to suffer in an austere and uncomfortable cab.
# 3 – No sacrificing technology. Trucks can be just as tech-savvy as smaller cars. Don’t think for a second that you’ll have to do with obsolete safety or in-cabin tech.
# 4 – Go anywhere. Trucks often feature stiffer, tougher suspension and a protected underbody. This allows you to take the road less traveled. Ever heard of muddin’?
# 5 – Return the favor. Though some people may find it aggravating that all of their friends ask them to help them move, it is very nice to be able to help the people you love. Plus, there is usually free pizza involved!
Before you know it, spring will be here and you’ll have an itch to hit the road. Not sure where to go? You can never go wrong with a national park. These are some of the best national parks in and around Kentucky.
