Take a Look at this Crash Proof Human

Imagine a world where are cars didn’t evolve to make us safer in a crash, but instead our bodies changed. This is exactly what Australia’s Transport Accident Commission (TAC) did. Together, a trauma surgeon, an artist, and a crash expert designed what they call a crash proof human, or Graham.

Graham isn’t the most attractive man, but his extreme features make him perfectly adapted to survive the forces involved in an automobile accident. So, what does it take for the human body to withstand those forces? Seemingly, it takes an extremely large, fatty head with no neck, a slightly concave face, a reinforced rib cage with extra air pockets, and thicker skin.

But, Graham can not only survive an accident inside the car, but should be able to survive getting hit by one, too. He was designed with an extra joint in his ankles for increased mobility and his knees are so flexible that they can bend in nearly any direction.

If you’re wondering why Graham exists, it is for educational purposes. The TAC wanted to show everyone how extreme our bodies would have to be to survive an accident. They are hoping that Graham will cause people to be more aware while they’re driving so there are fewer accidents on the road.
