Living in Paducah gives us access to so many easy and exciting Kentucky road trips. One of our favorite quick road trips is the journey to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. The trip is just two and a half hours, with the museum located roughly 150 miles away.
The National Corvette Museum has more than 80 Corvettes on display, including many one of a kinds. The museum was built in the 90s and has hosted millions of visitors since. You can also grab a bite to eat there at the Corvette Café and, more exciting, visit the connected NCM Motorsports Park where you can watch Corvettes in action or even take a lap in a Corvette if you are brave enough.
The National Corvette Museum fell victim to a sinkhole earlier this decade. The sinkhole that formed inside the museum swallowed several classic Corvettes. Some of these were restored and are back on display; others remain on display in their damaged condition as a reminder of what happened at the museum.
The museum is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week, with the exception of New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Are you looking for a weekend road trip with you family but aren’t sure where to go? Here are some easy road trip ideas for Paducah residents.
- National Corvette Museum: If you love fast cars, you’ll want to visit this museum in Bowling Green. You can even check out the sinkhole exhibit, with cars that survived the unfortunate sinkhole that struck the museum a few years ago.
- Kings Island: Not far from the Ohio River is one of Ohio’s two major theme parks, Kings Island, with rides like The Beast, Diamondback, Drop Tower, and Banshee. Kings Island also has its own waterpark with slides and a wave pool.
- Mammoth Cave National Park: Kentucky’s own Mammoth Cave is great for families with a thirst for adventure. You’ll go deep underground to explore the beautiful cave system carved naturally by Mother Nature.
- Nashville, Tennessee: Head down to Music City for the weekend. You can explore the Country Music Hall of Fame, get delicious doughnuts at Five Daughters, spend some time on the lake, and see your favorite band play a show. Or leave the kids behind for an adults-only weekend and explore the Vegas-esque scene of Broadway and its honky-tonk bars.
